Stomach indigestion is medically known as dyspepsia.  People who do not eat properly and have digestive disorders are likely to have indigestion. If the stomach feels salty or if the stomach hurts, it may be indigestion.

There are many causes of indigestion. Spicy food, lying down after eating, mental state, tension, drinking alcohol and smoking are the causes of indigestion.

People suffering from stomach cancer, gastritis, peptic ulcers, gallstones, and pancreatitis are also prone to indigestion. 

Symptoms of indigestion

  • Nausea 
  • Bad breath
  • Abdominal pain
  • Heartburn
  • Sour mouth
  • diarrhea
  • loss of appetite
  • Gas trouble
  • Stomach bloating

Home Remedies to Cure Indigestion

Ginger: You can add ginger to food or drink ginger tea. Ginger is rich in antioxidants and helps in treating indigestion. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties.

Lemon: Drinking lemon juice after eating can reduce heartburn and stomach pain 

Peppermint: Peppermint helps to relax the intestinal muscles removes bad breath and cures nausea. Drink mint leaves or mint tea after meals.

Baking soda: Baking soda can help balance stomach acid. Relieves indigestion and heartburn. One tablespoon of baking soda mixed with water or honey can be taken once a day.

Gooseberry: Eating gooseberry once a day will cure indigestion.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon helps in curing indigestion due to its antioxidant properties. It can be eaten as it is or mixed with tea and consumed 2-3 times a day.

Fennel: Fennel helps in gastric juice secretion. Fennel can be eaten as is or mixed with water.

Honey: Honey can help cure indigestion by inhibiting the production of bacteria. Honey can be consumed as is or mixed with warm water.**
