However, as your child grows older the general expectation is he or she will be sleeping through the night soundly without waking. For many young children, this is indeed the case and a lot of parents indeed find this happening from 6 months onwards. Given this, it obviously will come as

However, more commonly it is the case that there is no obvious underlying cause. If you find this is true of your toddler then the next step is to look at other factors in order to improve the situation.

The first thing to do is to consider the environment in which your child sleeps. In the mornings it is common for children to wake early so try to make sure that all external light is blocked out. This tip tends to be particularly helpful during the summer when the sun rises much earlier.

Young children depend heavily on routine and when it comes to sleep things are no different. Because of this try to ensure a regular bedtime and be sure to wind down the day with a calm routine so that your toddler does not get overexcited prior to going to bed. This can be difficult but if done night after night then your infant will accept it as the norm.

This tip is often very helpful in solving any toddler sleep issues on its own. If after trying this for a few days you still find that your little one is reluctant to go to bed then you might like to try to extend bedtime by 15 or 20 minutes. This often does the trick and creates a bit more tiredness such that the infant can no longer keep their eyes open!.

Additional things that you can experiment with are keeping track of how much sleep he or she is getting. Ask yourself if it is common for your infant to become drowsy in the daytime. Perhaps an afternoon nap is needed. This might be a sign of lower-quality sleep during the nighttime hours.
